Data source
The Q&A archive is built from the public Stack Exchange community snapshot (not scraped; a licensed community data export under the CC BY-SA license). Every record is attributed to its original author by implicit community convention through the upvote signal.
Filtering criteria
- Tagged with one of:
vba,excel-vba,excel,ms-access,access-vba,ms-word,word-vba,outlook-vba,ms-office. - Question community score ≥ 1 (the asker demonstrated the problem clearly enough to receive a net-positive vote).
- Accepted or highest-voted answer community score ≥ 3 (the answer satisfied the asker and at least two additional reviewers).
- For the initial pilot release, the top 500 records are kept, ranked by combined Q + A score.
Processing pipeline
- Raw records enter a custom read-only table on this site; nothing in the public tables is modified.
- The highest-voted answer per question is attached as the canonical solution.
- Each record is rendered into a 3-part structure: The Problem, The Verified Solution, When to Use It, followed by an FAQ.
- Primary category is assigned by mapping the source tag to one of five Microsoft Office application families.
Metric definitions
Answer score: net upvotes minus downvotes recorded against the selected answer at the time of the snapshot. Q-score: same calculation applied to the question itself. Community confidence: a calibrated score between 60% and 99% derived from the answer score, displayed as a progress bar in the sidebar.
Update cadence
The upstream snapshot is refreshed weekly via an automated sync that runs early Monday UTC. Posts are regenerated only when the source record has changed, so stable answers keep the same URL and canonical SEO metadata.
