Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection will establish a Women and Children's Friend Post (Pos SAPA) in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) to strengthen post-earthquake support services.
Women's Empowerment and Child Protection Minister Arifah Fauzi confirmed in Jakarta on Sunday that she will fly to the province on Monday (August 24), bringing along aid from partners and preparing to establish the post, which will serve as a service hub.
"If any children are separated from their parents, or if people need information regarding services for women and children, we will provide assistance at Pos SAPA," she said when handing over aid to the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB).
She explained that based on incoming information, specific needs for women and children across the seven affected districts and cities have yet to be fully met, prompting swift government action to address the situation.
According to her, shortly after the earthquake struck on the morning of August 15, President Prabowo Subianto instructed several ministries and agencies to deploy directly to NTT with emergency relief.
"However, we cannot fulfill everything alone," she said, adding that her ministry had continued to coordinate with development partners like Muslimat NU, Danone, and Unilever to strengthen post-disaster response, particularly for women and children.
"Our development partners have demonstrated extraordinary commitment. They possess great empathy and solidarity, and stand ready to assist our brothers and sisters affected by the earthquake in NTT," she remarked.
Arifah explained that 30 metric tons of aid have been collected so far, though only a portion has been dispatched.
She also expressed her gratitude to BNPB for facilitating the aid delivery and expressed hope that relief operations in NTT would proceed smoothly so affected residents can rebuild their lives.
