Kotabaru, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - Commission II of the Kotabaru DPRD held a hearing to obtain a direct explanation from PLN regarding the rolling blackouts that have sparked public complaints in the "Bumi Saijaan" (Kotabaru's nickname).
Commission II also urged the state electricity firm (BUMN) to take measures to accelerate handling so that electricity supply return to optimal levels.
The meeting was chaired by Chairman of Commission II Abu Suwandi and attended by Deputy Speaker I of the DPRD Awaludin, PLN Kotabaru Customer Service Unit Manager Muhammad Reza and the district's Leadership Coordination Forum (forkopimda).

Awaludin said that the hearing was a form of the DPRD's response to public complaints.
“The results of today's meeting, we recommend to PLN that blackout is not more than 2 hours per day,” he said here as reported on Thursday
He emphasized that if power outages occur more that six times a moth or even more frequently, compensation must be provided in accordance with the Regulation of ESDM (Energy and Mineral Resources) Minister Number 02 year 2025.
PLN Kotabaru Manager said the DPRD's request to limit power outage 2 hours per day will be coordinated with the load electricity center in Banjarbaru, because it relates with all areas served by PLN in South and Central Kalimantan.
He explained that PLN power systems in Kalimantan are interconnected. The electricity need in South, Central and East Kalimantan are supplied by multiple power plants operating simultaneously and in mutual support of one another.
“Regarding compensation for PLN customers in accordance with ESDM Minister Regulation No. 02 of 2025, PLN will provide it as stipulated by the applicable regulations," he said.
