Kotabaru, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - Rahmad, a member of Kotabaru DPRD, appreciated Minamas Plantation for organizing fire-care school in Binturung Village, Pamukan Utara Sub-district, in collaboration with Indonesia Heritage Foundation (IHF).
"Hopefully this activity is not merely ceremonial, but brings sustainable benefits," said Rahmad in Kotabaru, Wednesday.
He said teachers do more then just teaching knowledge, through fire-aware school program they foster an environmentally conscious character in schools and encourage students to be vigilant and concern about environmental threat such as wildfires.

"We give appreciation to the head of Education Office and teachers council who are very enthusiastic to attend the activities provided by Minamas," he said.
Minamas Plantation Regional Controller, Adrian Mohd Fazrin Mohd Fairoz, said that the event was attended by 130 teachers from kindergarten to high school from both Minamas schools and schools around the company's operational area.
The training has been running since 2022 in partnership with IHF. The goal is to strengthen the capacity of educators while integrating the value of character education and environmental care culture into daily learning process.
"This is a form of the company's commitment to education as the main pillar of social responsibility," said Adrian Mohd Fazrin.

The training was designed not only to strengthen the professional capacity of teachers, but also integrate values of character education and environmental culture into learning process. This is considered increasingly urgent given the challanges facing today's youth, such as drug abuse, online gambling, and various other social problems.
"It is not enough to equip children solely with academic knowledge, but also moral values, noble character, mental toughness, and awareness of protecting environment," he stated.
Head of the Kotabaru Education and Culture Office Akhmad Romansyah appreciated the initiative of Minamas and Indonesia Heritage Foundation in organizing this very meaningful training.
"The presence of 130 teachers from kindergarten to high school shows attention and enthusiasm of educators to continue to improve the quality of learning," he said.
